Nowadays Oxford’s shoes are the most wearable closed shoes in the whole world for men and women as well,  simple design, low-cut shoes that lace up in the front or by buckles, and have flat heels and thin sole.

Oxford’s shoes were worn in Europe as early as the 1640’s, but they first became popular in Great Britain at the end of 19th Century and later throughout the whole Europe and United States. The lace-up Oxford style shoe was originally a half boot worn by students at Britain’s Oxford University, from which the style took its name. This kind of shoes was mostly worn by men until at the early 1900’s women gained new freedoms. In many countries they gained  the right to vote, to mention just the most important, and a new image of the modern woman was emerging.

This woman was more active and athletic, and her clothing was, therefore, freer and less conservative. This new Oxford style shoes fitted that new active lifestyle perfectly. Although women did not wear them for formal occasion, they wore them mainly for sport and other activities. Pioneer woman aviator Amelia Earhart, who began her flying career during the early 1920’s was often pictured wearing Oxford shoes.

I love this kind of shoes and different styles. As a matter of fact, they are very comfortable and soft due to the leather material. Its color is very wearable too and easy to combine with, so especially for those days that I’m not in the mood, and I don’t want to spend a lot of time in front of my closet thinking about what to wear, this kind of shoes is my wild card. In this occasion I wore them with this stripes dress and honestly I was extremely comfortable for all the things I had to do.

Hope you like it. Do you like these kinds of shoes? Do you think are only for men?
